How to Choose Seat Covers

Getting seat covers for your car can be a great way to add new style and functionality to your old vehicle. But choosing one for your ride can be a difficult and intimidating. Here are some pointers to help-
- Make sure the seat covers you buy is manufactured specifically for your make and model of car. There’s nothing more frustrating than getting your covers and then realizing that they don’t quite fit right. It’s more than just making sure that you’re buying covers designed for a car, truck, or suv, the details have to be identical to ensure good fit. More than just looking sloppy, poorly fitting seat covers can cause dangerous road situations if they should slip or become dislodged while you are driving.
-Pay close attention to the fabric of your seat covers. All kinds of fabric options are available, from naturals like cotton or corduroy or even sheepskin to synthetics like rayon, neoprene or polyester. I usually recommend that people chose a synthetic fabric for several reasons. Synthetic fibers are more “green” friendly (better for the environment). They are MUCH easier to clean if you happen to spill a soda or a coffee, and they last considerably longer than traditional natural fibers, so in more ways than one you’re getting more for your money. Synthetic fabrics also keep their shape better over time, so they’re less prone to sagging, wrinkling and warping. Also, I would recommend choosing a smooth fabric over a tufted fabric. Fuzzy fabrics might look great to begin with, but in short order they become matted and worn down. They also absorb stains, smells, and sweat much easier than smooth fabrics. Also, smooth fabrics will keep your skin cooler in the summer, which is a big bonus.
-Seat covers can be a great way to add comfort to a hard or old seat cushion. Choose a cover that has a good thick layer of foam, and you’ll be padded and comfortable. Again, look for a high quality synthetic, which will hold up much better in the long run.
-Lastly, make sure to get a seat cover that you LIKE. Hopefully it’ll be around for several years, and it’s important to find one that matches your style. They make seat covers for practically every style, everything from animal prints and racing stripes to solid covers and even camouflages. Retail suppliers online offer a vast number and quantity of covers for a very reasonable price.
