Have you ever considered sheepskin seat covers? I know that for most folks the first thing that pops into your head when you think about choices for seat covers is probably some awesome pattern or cool fiber. But there are lots of great reasons to go with something natural, like sheepskin. Sheepskin is one of the original materials for seat covers, and when you stop and think about it, there are lots of reasons why that’s probably so.
Sheepskin seat covers are durable. Granted, there have been a ton of advances made in the synthetic fiber industry recently, and those can’t be overlooked. But many people would still rather choose a natural material. For those people, sheepskin is definitely the best alternative. Even compared to some of the synthetics, s.s. just holds up better. It definitely holds up better than any other natural fiber (most specifically cotton)! It’s really no different than furniture. The finest furniture that’s made is created from sheepskin, and that’s true of car furniture as well. And when you think about it, most people spend as much time sitting in their cars as they do anywhere else. Although they are more expensive, it is really an investment purchase. They last considerably longer than most other seat covers, and resist aging very nicely. Particularly when you think about how much money we spend on our cars to begin with, it makes sense to protect our investment.
Another reason why sheepskin seat covers are so popular is that they are so incredibly comfortable. Again, I would argue that since we spend so much time in our cars, it makes sense to be comfortable there. Sheepskin is (just like your skin, actually), a porous surface. This has many implications for comfort. This means that the surface breathes. It will help keep you warm in the winter, and cool in the summer. Additionally, it helps wick away perspiration much better than a natural. There’s also nothing quite like the feeling of leather against your skin to make for a pleasant ride. It helps to mimic the feeling of your actual car seats, so it’s a great option for people who want to get seat covers without anyone noticing.
I feel that there are a ton of great reasons to invest in a seat of sheepskin seat covers, and I hope that I’ve successfully shared at least a few of them with you here today. Thanks, and keep reading my seat covers blog!

Why You Should Buy Seat Covers
I’ve never been one to endorse a product outright, and I feel like that bears saying even when it comes to one of my favorite products- seat covers. I don’t generally like being told as a consumer that I have to do something, plain and simple. But in this case, I feel as though I’m justified in saying that any really smart consumer should go ahead and buy seat covers. Buy them if you have a new car. Buy them if you have an old car. I’ll tell you why.
Seat covers are one of the most effective ways to protect your investment. I mean, think about it. Your car is probably the single most expensive item that you own, besides your house if you have one. Don’t you want to do everything that you can to protect that? You change the oil when you’re supposed to, take it in for regular tire rotations, have the belts changes, and all the other necessities that come with owning a car. But you climb inside the passenger compartment of your car and don’t think another thing about it. There are many elements of a car which are impossible to effectively protect from wear over time, but your seats are just not one of those things- seat covers can give you years of comfortable use from seats that otherwise would have worn out in a few years.
Let’s say that your car isn’t so new, and it’s “been around the block” a few times. Well in that case you need a set of seat covers more than anyone. I’m sure if you think about it, you’ll realize that your seats just aren’t as comfortable as they used to be. Your friends and family probably agree. Rather than buying a new car, or investing in having new seats put in, try putting in a set of seat covers. There are models on the market in a wide array of styles and colors that can really make your car seem like new again. And even more important in your case, you can purchase covers that have a thick layer of synthetic padding in them, which will really make your seats ride like new again.
We spend a huge amount of time in our cars. When you think about the amount of time you spend in your car, doesn’t it make sense to make it a place that you really want to be?

How to Choose Seat Covers
Getting seat covers for your car can be a great way to add new style and functionality to your old vehicle. But choosing one for your ride can be a difficult and intimidating. Here are some pointers to help-
- Make sure the seat covers you buy is manufactured specifically for your make and model of car. There’s nothing more frustrating than getting your covers and then realizing that they don’t quite fit right. It’s more than just making sure that you’re buying covers designed for a car, truck, or suv, the details have to be identical to ensure good fit. More than just looking sloppy, poorly fitting seat covers can cause dangerous road situations if they should slip or become dislodged while you are driving.
-Pay close attention to the fabric of your seat covers. All kinds of fabric options are available, from naturals like cotton or corduroy or even sheepskin to synthetics like rayon, neoprene or polyester. I usually recommend that people chose a synthetic fabric for several reasons. Synthetic fibers are more “green” friendly (better for the environment). They are MUCH easier to clean if you happen to spill a soda or a coffee, and they last considerably longer than traditional natural fibers, so in more ways than one you’re getting more for your money. Synthetic fabrics also keep their shape better over time, so they’re less prone to sagging, wrinkling and warping. Also, I would recommend choosing a smooth fabric over a tufted fabric. Fuzzy fabrics might look great to begin with, but in short order they become matted and worn down. They also absorb stains, smells, and sweat much easier than smooth fabrics. Also, smooth fabrics will keep your skin cooler in the summer, which is a big bonus.
-Seat covers can be a great way to add comfort to a hard or old seat cushion. Choose a cover that has a good thick layer of foam, and you’ll be padded and comfortable. Again, look for a high quality synthetic, which will hold up much better in the long run.
-Lastly, make sure to get a seat cover that you LIKE. Hopefully it’ll be around for several years, and it’s important to find one that matches your style. They make seat covers for practically every style, everything from animal prints and racing stripes to solid covers and even camouflages. Retail suppliers online offer a vast number and quantity of covers for a very reasonable price.
I hope these pointers help you to make some choices. Please keep reading my seat covers blog!
